Athleticamps Workout Clinic - HTLC (Strength on bike)

The winter cycling season is the first step in the preparation of a successful 2020!

Over the years, a common question we hear is "Should I do strength workouts in the gym?". It's a good question. Each athlete is different, but one thing that is for sure, riders need consistent strength workouts on the bike included as part of their programs.

One of the more beneficial ones is a specific workout called HTLC, which stands forHigh Torque; Low Cadence. They are also referred to as "SFR's" or "Aerobic Strength" workouts.

Join Athleticamps for a 3 hour clinic:

  • Review of workout purpose and benefits

  • Technique will be explained and demonstrated

  • Each athlete will be individually analyzed for proper technique

  • Specific workout instructions will be given and workout will be completed that morning

  • Take home tip sheet that explains how to perform these in your program, both inside and outside

The basics:

Movie Night at Athleticamps: Le Ride (2016)

Movie Night at Athleticamps: Le Ride (2016)

LE RIDE follows Phil Keoghan and his friend Ben Cornell as they attempt to recreate the original route of the 1928 Tour de france. Averaging 240 kilometres a day for 26 days, Phil and Ben traverse both the unforgiving mountains of the Pyrenees and the Alps, on original vintage steel racing bikes with no gears and marginal brakes. The documentary takes inspiration from the remarkable true story of Australians Sir Hubert Opperman, Ernie Bainbridge and Percy Osborne, and New Zealander Harry Watson as the first English speaking team to compete in the Tour de France. They arrived after six weeks at sea, under-trained and under-resourced, untested and completely written off by the French media. The 1928 Tour was the toughest in history – a hell on wheels race of attrition. Only 41 finished out of 161 starters yet remarkably three were from the Australasian team. This extraordinary story of achievement against the odds has never been told on film – until now.

Performance Road Camp - Weekend - November 10-11, 2018

Join us for our last road performance camp of the year!

Our local and regional weekend tours are all about upping your game by giving you two days of support and focused attention. Like everything we do at Athleticamps, we put a lot of thinking into making sure our tours provide real value to everyone who attends. Some of the things we do that set our camps apart include:

  • We limit the number of people, usually to fewer than 12, so that every rider gets plenty of attention and no one gets lost in the crowd.

  • We begin with an interview in advance so that we understand your cycling history, what you’d like to improve, your goals, and your expectations for the tour.

  • We treat every athlete with equal consideration and respect, whether you’re an experienced racer, training for your first gran fondo or century, or just want to spend a few days improving your skills and fitness.

  • Offer optional bike fitting before the tour to make sure you’re set up for comfort and performance.

  • Offer optional performance testing before the tour so that you have a baseline for training.

Movie Night at Athleticamps: Slaying the Badger (2014)

Before Lance Armstrong, there was Greg LeMond, who is now the first and only American to win the Tour de France. In this engrossing documentary, LeMond looks back at the pivotal 1986 Tour and his increasingly vicious rivalry with friend, teammate and mentor Bernard Hinault. The reigning Tour champion and brutal competitor known as "The Badger," Hinault "promised" to help LeMond to his first victory, in return for LeMond supporting him in the previous year. But in a sport that purports to reward teamwork, it's really every man for himself.
