Performance Testing Can Benefit All Levels of Athletes

No matter what your goal or level, performance testing can benefit all riders whether your goals are racing or improving performance in centuries.  Testing provides you with a blueprint of what type of athlete you are and a benchmark of your current fitness level.  Using this valuable information and knowing your goals, an accurate training program can be applied and lead to improvement.

The formula’s of the 1970’s (e.g. Max heart rate (HR) = 220 - age) were developed by researchers and do not apply to the majority of the population.  Performance testing at AthletiCamps can give you accurate data, giving you the assurance that your training program is set up for you.  Plus, it’s just plain old fun to be testing in a lab, just like the professionals!

At AthletiCamps, testing will provide you with these valuable results:

  • Seven accurate heart rate and power training zones determined from your threshold and not maximum heart rate.
  • Either a lactate threshold or ventilitory threshold, based on which test is performed.
  • Your power at threshold and your power at peak.
  • Your wattages per kilogram of body weight which is an indicator of climbing ability.
  • Body composition including body fat % and Body Mass Index (BMI).
  • Bike fitting to determine your most comfortable and economical pedal stroke.
