AthletiCamps Tactics Club 2012
There’s really nothing like a bike race.
Sure, you need to be at the peak of your fitness…and it helps to be mentally as tough as nails. But a lot of the fun of racing comes from the third part of the equation, Racing Strategies and Tactics!
While it’s fun when you get the tactics part right, it can be extremely frustrating to get ‘out-maneuvered’ by a master cycling tactician.
You may have heard it said that there’s no way to get a handle on bike racing tactics short of getting into a ton of races. That’s how it’s always been.
Until now.
Now Athleticamps is hosting a series of meetings of the ‘Athleticamps Tactics Club 2012’, with the prime mission of preparing cyclists for upcoming races. At Tactics Club you’ll find out when to attack, when to ’sit in’, and which climbs usually result in a winning break.
And each session is focused on a specific race you’re probably wanting to excel in. This isn’t merely theoretical stuff here…we’ll be talking about where the rubber hits the road.
By attending the Tactics Club you don’t have to get into a race half a dozen times to figure out the unique tricks of each course.
But that’s not all you’ll get out of Athleticamps Tactics Club. We’ll spend some time reviewing previous races so that you can learn from what you did right and wrong, with the goal of always improving for the future.
And where else can you get a chance to just thoroughly enjoy a discussion of bike racing tactics with some of the most experienced riders in the business?
Have you ever seen how energized football commentators get when discussing a game? It’s about time cyclists have a time and place for the same kind of high energy fun…and that’s what the Tactics Club is all about.
Here’s a listing of the sessions and the races they’ll focus on (more will be added):
Dates and Race Focus
Snelling RR - 2/23
Merco RR - 3/1
Madera Stage Race - 3/6
Bariani RR - 3/15
Copperopolis - 4/5
Chico SR - 4/12
Wente Weekend - 4/26
So don’t get left behind. Take a minute to RSVP for any or all of the meetings. If the response is anything like it was last year, you’ll want to be sure to reserve a spot.
They’re all free and you’re welcome to bring any friends or teammates with you.
And finally, if you are not planning on competing in any of these races, you can still come to the meetings, as there is so much to learn about racing in general!
All meetings take place at the AthletiCamps office and are scheduled for 6:00 PM unless otherwise noted:
7610 Folsom-Auburn Rd Suite 130
Folsom, CA. 95630
