Training Educational Series 2012
“AthletiCamps is proud to announce the return of our annual cycling training education ‘classroom’ style series.”
That's what we said last year, and if you ask those who attended the series, they'll tell you we hit the ball out of the park! The sessions filled right up, and we can only imagine how many cyclists will want to get a place in the classes now that the word is out.
This year's series will be even more powerful...with a bit of 'tweaking' here and there in response to last year's discussions.
The riders who attended all of the classes last year will tell you that there's a synergy between the sessions. Put them all together, and the pieces to becoming a complete cyclist start falling into place.
There’s a lot of ‘mystery’ in our sport that doesn’t have to be there. No matter how long you’ve been cycling…or at what level, you’ll benefit from hearing from a group of experts who’ve made it their mission to stay at the cutting edge in their field.
Along with the presentation, there’ll be a lively question and answer period each evening. How do we know it’ll be ‘lively’? Well, it sure was last year, and because we’ve designed the series around the most common questions we’re asked by our athletes.
Like last year, we will also send out a pre-class questionnaire to help us focus on the content you want to hear.
So whether your goal is to improve your fitness, or increase your enjoyment in the sport…or a bit of both, you’ll thoroughly enjoy these high energy evenings spent de-mystifying our beloved sport of cycling.
You’ll also benefit from the discounts we’ll be offering exclusively at the series.
Discounts on:
VO2 and/or lactate threshold testing
Coaching packages
Cycling camp participation
And a host of other Athleticamps services
You spend a good amount of time and money enjoying the sport of cycling. With that in mind, we're confident you'll agree that for 'bang for your buck', this entire series will deliver more toward your cycling success than just about anything you can invest in...and for less money than you spend on a high-quality bike tire!
"I thoroughly enjoyed last year's series and attended all the classes! The topics were concise and beneficial for me as an athlete. I kept bugging Bruce about when this year's series will take place, and it's finally arrived! I recommend anyone wanting to improve their ability in the sport to attend. It will be well worth your time!" - Claire Morgan - Sierra Nevada Cycling Team
So get your questions ready, and plan to attend. Sign-ups will be limited...we're restricted by how many people can fit into the room, so register today!

Volume 4 - Training Theory and Concepts II- February 22nd - With featured guests, Alison Starnes (Exergy Twenty12 Professional Cycling Team) and Phil Mooney (Jamis Sutter Home Professional Cycling Team), the second installment of training theories and concepts will drill down deeper into specifics of many of the topics like performance testing and power meters. The first installment armed you with the general concepts of how to train properly. Now it's time do dive into the details, looking at the great tools and services available to athletes these days!
Volume 5 - Nutrition - On the bike - March 7th - You may be able to fudge nutritionally if you’re competing in a strictly ‘skill’ sport, or a short duration sport…but that’s not at all the case in the sport of cycling! There’s no sense in compromising the hours and hours you’ve invested in training by not fueling your engine optimally. That goes for before, during, and even after a cycling event. You’ll leave knowing how much to consume, what types of nutrition leads to peak performance, and even the role proper nutrition plays in dramatically reducing your recovery time.
Volume 1 - Training Theory and Concepts I- January 11th - Training theory and concepts continue to expand and grow for cyclists and all endurance athletes. And along with that expansion, comes a lot of questions and confusion about how to get the best out of yourself as an athlete. Join Bruce Hendler, owner of AthletiCamps and his 25 years of cycling experience for a discussion that will benefit all levels. Whether you're just starting out, or a long time veteran of sports, understanding training theories is vital to your success. You will leave class with a new found understanding and confidence that you are doing the right things and "riding" in the right direction!
Volume 2 - Nutrition - Achieving your optimal weight for top performance- January 25th -The field of nutrition can be frustrating. There’s so much information floating around, that it’s hard to know who to believe. Even finding out your optimum weight can be a guessing game. But it doesn’t have to be. Join us for an evening with AthletiCamps’ nutritionist, Marlia Braun, PhD, as we discuss how to determine your best weight and the safest way to get you into ‘fightin shape’.
Volume 3 - Balance, Stability & Agility…missing links to achieving greatness - February 8th - We spend thousands of dollars gaining single digit percentages of bike frame stiffness and weight yet do not understand how our own bodies frame functions or how to significantly improve its performance by connecting the upper/lower body and core into our cycling training. Rob Kopitzke, Physical Therapist, Master Pilates Instructor, Cycling Coach and Owner of Body Concepts presents a discussion on ways to fine tune your cycling fitness in ways you may not have thought about before…come have some fun learning something new!
