Mark Rashid (Davis, CA) - I attended a four-day camp at AthletiCamps. The performance testing, the rides, the coaching, the informational lectures - all were very professionally done. On the road, Bruce does a superb job of tailoring the experience to the individual needs of the riders, even when those needs vary considerably from rider to rider. He works hard to structure the rides so that everyone, from recreational/fitness riders to current racers (we had some of both at the camp), feels welcome and included. Everyone learns a great deal that is useful to achieving higher levels of performance on the bike. The performance testing is an important and integral part of the camp: from the results, each rider’s training zones are established. These training zones form the basis for the specific drills and workout types that you learn over the rest of the camp. Whether you are training for your first century, or are an experienced bike racer reaching for that next level, you will learn how to get there in a smart way. All of the coaching and instruction, including the information on nutrition, is distilled from and supported by peer-reviewed scientific research. Also, with his enthusiasm and encouragement, Bruce creates a friendly atmosphere and camaraderie among the riders. Overall, a terrific experience and a great value.

Dave Bradshaw (Park City, UT.) - Thanks for an enjoyable, fun, and highly informative weekend. I had a great time - the camp exceeded my expectations. I look forward to the challenge of “executing” the training plan we designed. It’s the same challenge I face in my business life as well, but I know it will happen, as I left the camp with an incredible amount of confidence. Everyone involved contributed to a great experience! Thanks again.

Brent Solman (Denver, CO.) - I had a great time and learned a lot at your 4 day camp. Now I understand how my unique physiology (done with real performance testing) can directly benefit my training program. I definitely feel like I have an advantage over my competitors, as I now feel like I can train correctly. Thanks again and I look forward to returning soon!

Greg Olsen (New York, NY) - I just wanted to let you know how amazingly helpful your camp was. The physiological evaluations were incredible and will benefit me greatly for this season and beyond. The rides the following days were wonderfully scenic, yet quite challenging. I especially appreciated the on-bike evaluation and the tips you gave throughout the ride. Can’t wait to come back next year with all my riding buddies!

Dianne Lee (Corpus Christie, Texas) - The best testimonial for any training endeavor has to be a description of positive results. With the many tools for improvement that Bruce provided during the short time of the Performance clinic, I am well on the way to becoming a stronger and smarter rider. Many riders in my local club have commented on the improvement in just a couple months. The bike fitting assessment gave me the information for properly fitting me to a new bike.
Bruce listens to individual goals and offers practical, sensible techniques to reach them. He welcomes questions and offers lots of encouragement. The testing was first class. We were all made to feel just as important as one of the many elite athletes that are examined and coached there. Bruce has assembled an incredible circle of associates, friends, and advisors that make AthletiCamps unique. I encourage anyone who wants straight answers to their questions about cycling to attend a clinic or camp. I traveled all the way from Texas and it was worth every mile!

Steven Melich (San Jose, CA.)
Day 1: Performance Testing and Bike Fitting
This was awesome; to be personally attended to was an unbelievable experience. They worked meticulously and individually with each of us to determine VO2Max, Body Composition, Training Zones (heart rate and power), Bike Fit and other physiological and biomechanical parameters. After the testing, we met as a group with for a question and answer session where they provided meticulous and candid answers to all of our questions providing amazing insight . We then met back at the Rocklin Park Hotel to pour over the testing results with Bruce (owner and camp director.)
Day 2: 60 miles, 3760 feet of climbing
Beautiful Sierra foothills riding with three additional riders Bruce is coaching. Focus was on how to train given the terrain vs. how they are raced. Bruce was making individual observations and after returning back to the hotel and showering offered individual comments, suggestions and a plan to improve on our weaknesses and capitalize on our strengths.
Day 3: 70 miles, 5000 feet of climbing
Beautiful Sierra foothills riding with three/four additional riders Bruce is coaching. Focus on climbing, how to stay with a group, cadence, energy, etc. Bruce was making individual observations and after returning back to the hotel and showering offered individual comments, suggestions.
The afternoon was wrapped up with a talk on Performance Nutrition by Marlia Braun (AthletiCamps Nutritionist), who’s insight and ability to present simply and focus this rather complex topic was amazing.
Day 4: 45 miles, 2540 feet of climbing
Beautiful Sierra foothills riding with many additional riders Bruce is coaching and others (12-13 in all). Focus on pack handling, pulling, aero dynamics, etiquette, etc. Bruce was making individual observations and after returning back to the hotel and showering offered individual comments, suggestions for the day, entire weekend and looking forward.
Conclusion:
All-in-all an amazing four days and an awesome value. Bruce’s enthusiasm and knowledge is among the best and he offers pragmatic solutions with the utmost confidence. I look forward to applying his coaching tips, integrating his customized-individual training plan and suggestions.

Tom McHenry (Pasadena, CA.) wanted AthletiCamps to travel to his group of 5 athletes because of busy career and family schedule. Their cycling goals were to improve their general fitness level and prepare for a series of centuries and double centuries:
Bruce—You have had a profound impact on all of our lives, or at least on our diets and training regimen.
- William has lost ten pounds and no longer serves himself a third helping.
- Eric has lost 13 pounds and rides 36 miles to work.
- Joe rode 60+ miles Saturday without a single knee twitch.
- And I bought some rollers on EBay and am planning to convert my old bike to a single speed for training.
- Greg is laying low and training for the Tour.
Thanks again for motivating us so well!
Tom

Rich Freggiaro (Stockton, CA) - What a weekend! I attended a Athleticamps Performance Clinic and had an exciting, productive weekend. The lab testing was very interesting and useful, and then Bruce took it out onto the road and showed us how to apply the results to our workouts. Bruce did a fine job, giving everyone personal attention and answering questions tirelessly. The individual consulting session was great and I left with a clear idea of what to do to improve. The fellow campers were a great bunch and we had some lively conversation off the bike. Bruce provided a notebook with workout info we can refer to at home. Overall I would rate the clinic an EXCELLENT VALUE and would recommend it to any cyclist who wants to learn more about their body and how to improve as a rider.
